Nearly 85 years ago, two enterprising attorneys in San Francisco joined forces to form what was to become Sedgwick LLP. From the outset, the firm's goals were to serve its clients with distinction, to develop the next generations of legal minds, trial lawyers and leaders, and to make a positive impact in its communities and with the friends and families of its clients, attorneys and staff. What a ride it's been.
From that humble beginning, the firm expanded across the United States and overseas to London and beyond, serving its clients wherever it was needed. From its founding partners to all those who have shared their talents with us over the decades, the firm has made an indelible impact on thousands of clients and colleagues and in hundreds of courtrooms and boardrooms across this country and others. Regrettably, however, that time is coming to an end, and Sedgwick LLP will be closing in early January 2018. We have concluded that the best way to allow our lawyers to continue providing great service to our clients is by ceasing operations and moving to other excellent law firms. We are pleased that most of our lawyers and staff have opportunities with very fine firms.
We are extremely proud of Sedgwick’s deep commitment to client service and terrific legal work over many decades. We have had the great fortune of working alongside some of the most dedicated and talented attorneys and staff in the business, and we cannot express how greatly we appreciate their support and contributions over the years. We will continue to work hard for our clients here at Sedgwick for the rest of the year, and many of us will continue practicing and working together at new firms going forward. We look forward to maintaining and expanding the spirit, sage counsel and collaboration that has been a hallmark of Sedgwick.
We have been equally blessed with loyal and outstanding clients who have allowed us to work alongside them and who have trusted us to represent them and be their advocates, many for decades. Our attorneys and staff look forward to continuing to provide those clients with the same unparalleled service at our new firms. We cannot express how greatly we appreciate all of our clients’ support over the years.
While this news deeply saddens all of us, we are very proud and appreciative of all those who helped make Sedgwick the great firm it has been since 1933. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank our clients, attorneys and staff for everything you have done for us for decades, and we wish anyone who has ever crossed paths with this wonderful law firm the best and brightest future.
