Eliza Rodrigues Installed as President of California Women Lawyers
At the California State Bar Annual meeting on October 11, 2012 in Monterey, Calif., members of California Women Lawyers (CWL), judges, bar leaders and friends gathered for the organization’s annual dinner to celebrate achievements and swear in the new Board of Governors. Sedgwick’s Associate General Counsel and Ethics Counsel Eliza Rodrigues was sworn in as CWL’s president for 2012-2013 by Chief Justice of the California Supreme Court Tani Cantil-Sakauye. The CWL serves as a powerful voice for women’s issues in the state. The organization has developed an amicus program in which it presents amicus briefs to the courts, conducts a dynamic legislative program to effect social change and shape public policy debates, combats gender bias in the media, and pursues diversity in the judiciary and appointed offices.
