On January 30, Sedgwick was recognized for its commitment to diversity at MetLife’s annual diversity workshop in New York, “Diversity and Inclusion: Breaking the Retention Barrier.” As co-chair of Sedgwick’s Inclusion and Diversity Committee, Craig Barnes presented on the firm’s diversity program, noting firm accomplishments and key areas of focus. The purpose of MetLife’s annual diversity workshop is to collaborate on how to raise the bar on inclusion and share ideas to continue to make diversity a way of life within our workplaces. Sedgwick partner Michael Bernstein also attended the event.
In addition to this recent recognition by MetLife, Sedgwick received the 2012 Drucilla Stender Ramey Majority-Owned Law Firm Award by the California Minority Counsel Program (CMCP) and the State Bar of California’s 2012 Diversity Award. Sedgwick has also been named by The American Lawyer as one of the “Top 40 Firms for Diversity,” achieved a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index for the fourth consecutive year, and attained Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum for the second year in a row. These accolades come as a result of the creative approach the firm has taken to address the need for greater inclusion and diversity within the legal profession.
