Jim Holmes Elected to Council of the American Bar Association’s TIPS Section

Sedgwick Los Angeles partner Jim Holmes has been elected to the Council of the 20,000-member Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) of the American Bar Association (ABA). The TIPS Council serves as the governing body of the Section, and Council members are tasked with general supervision and affairs of the Section. As a Council member, Holmes has been elected by his peers to serve and vote on all Section issues before the governing body.  

Holmes is an experienced trial attorney and litigator, representing major media and entertainment entities, as well as major insurance carriers insuring media and entertainment entities. Holmes defends clients in a variety of intellectual property matters, including trademark, trade dress, trade secrets, copyright infringement, misrepresentation of likeness, unfair competition and breach of contract actions. He regularly works with clients on the defense of claims brought against their marketing practices, including advertising (broadcast and print media) and internet marketing (websites and social media). He also advises clients on cyber liability issues, including the implications and coverage for data and privacy breaches, and leads Sedgwick’s Specialty Rights and Technology Practice Group. Holmes has been named a Southern California Super Lawyer by both Los Angeles Magazine and the Journal for Law & Politics, and has won several awards in recognition of his exemplary pro bono and public service work.
