Sedgwick proudly announces that it has received a perfect score of 100 percent on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index (CEI) workplace equality scorecard, a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality, administered by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. Sedgwick is one of 609 major U.S. businesses — spanning nearly every industry — that earned top marks this year.

“Sedgwick is honored to have received a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index for the 10th consecutive year,” Sedgwick Chair Michael Healy said. “Our firm and our clients benefit from the talents and contributions of our LGBTQ community, and our decade-long rating of a 100 percent score reflects our commitment to recruiting and keeping the brightest and best with us.”

The Corporate Equality Index evaluates LGBTQ-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive healthcare benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. Sedgwick’s efforts in satisfying all of the CEI’s criteria results in a 100 percent ranking and the designation as a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality.”

Sedgwick’s LGBT Action Committee is one of the firm’s five affinity groups that provide mentoring and advocacy to help retain and advance diverse attorneys. Sedgwick established the LGBT Action Committee to further the firm’s commitment to the LGBT community as a whole, providing a supportive social and professional community for LGBT individuals within the firm, and enhancing the inclusive environment of the firm overall. Members of Sedgwick’s LGBT Action Committee serve as leaders, speakers and members for a wide range of LGBT organizations, including GLAAD, the National LGBT Bar Association, the American Bar Association’s Commission on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity and Bay Area Lawyers for Individual Freedom.

The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people.
