Neil Thomson Wins Transcontinental Trusts: International Forum 2017
Sedgwick Chudleigh Ltd. is pleased to announce that attorney Neil Thomson was selected as this year’s winner of the ‘Rising Stars’ essay competition for young lawyers at the Transcontinental Trusts: International Forum 2017 held in Bermuda May 4−5. Thomson was invited to present his winning paper at the conference, and the paper will also be published in due course.
The paper won by unanimous decision of the competition judges, and was well received by the delegates. Thomson’s essay was in response to the question ‘Private client structures: showcasing legal innovation and world class expertise, or a device to help the rich get richer?’. It addressed this question in the context of trusts and the topical issue of cybersecurity in the trusts and private client industry.
The conference had over 230 attendees from across the Americas and Europe visiting to network and learn from leaders in the industry. More than 65 speakers including renowned judges, barristers, leading law firm partners and international experts from across the world took part in the private client and trusts event, and it is known as a “must attend” event in the Trust and Private Client Advisory industry.
Thomson is an active commercial and insurance litigation attorney at Sedgwick Chudleigh in Bermuda. His cases include professional and D&O liability, cyber liability and trustee liability issues. Thomson handles multiple commercial litigation cases throughout all stages of the litigation process from pre-pleading stages and interlocutory proceedings to settlement negotiations, trial and appeals.
