Patent Litigators Robert Harkins and Jennifer Ming Join San Francisco Office

SAN FRANCISCO, April 22, 2011 – Intellectual property litigators Robert Harkins and Jennifer Ming, formerly of Howrey LLP, have joined Sedgwick LLP’s San Francisco office. The additions of Harkins as partner and Ming as an associate strengthens the firm’s capabilities in the areas of patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation.

Harkins has more than a decade of experience as an IP trial lawyer, focusing primarily on patent litigation. He also has experience with trademark, copyright and trade secret litigation. He counsels clients in a variety of intellectual property matters with a particular focus on computer hardware, software, system design, medical devices, telecommunications, television and satellite broadcasting and Internet-related technologies. Harkins is also experienced in licensing matters and complex commercial litigation.

Prior to his time at Howrey, Harkins served as the Director of Litigation and Intellectual Property for an international semiconductor company and co-founded MegaLaw.com, a legal search website. He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association and Federal Bar Association. He received his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law (1995), his M.S., with distinction, from National University (2001) and his B.A. from University of California, Berkeley.

Ming focuses on patent litigation and has worked on cases involving a variety of technologies, including medical catheters, semiconductors, CMOS image sensors and radio-frequency identification. Prior to law school, she worked as a hardware engineer for the Business PC group at Hewlett-Packard. Ming earned her J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of Law (2008) and her B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (2004).
