Michael A. Tanenbaum joined Sedgwick in 2001 and served as chair of the firm from 2007 to 2015. He practices in the areas of product liability, pharmaceutical liability and environmental and toxic tort. Mr. Tanenbaum litigates and manages complex commercial and product liability litigation and has served as national product liability counsel for pharmaceutical, consumer products, building products and chemical companies, as well as for a global industrial contractor and power equipment manufacturer.
Mr. Tanenbaum counsels corporations concerning litigation risk avoidance, risk management, regulatory and other corporate compliance and due diligence. He consults with financial analysts and major investors concerning investments and the litigation and regulatory outlook for a variety of companies with existing or potential product liabilities.
Mr. Tanenbaum has provided litigation, counseling and litigation management services for numerous leading corporations, including Bristol-Myers Squibb Company, Exxon Mobil Corporation, General Electric Company, Clairol, Inc., Hoover Treated Wood Products and Foster Wheeler, LLC.
Affiliations and Accomplishments
Mr. Tanenbaum is admitted to practice in New Jersey, New York and Florida. He is a member of the American Bar Association, New Jersey Bar Association and Florida State Bar and former chair of the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel’s Drug, Device and Biotechnology Section.
Mr. Tanenbaum is on the Board of Directors for the New Jersey Performing Arts Center and is on the Board of Trustees and serves as vice chair of the Overlook Foundation. He is the recipient of InsideCounsel Magazine’s 2013 James M. Strother Award, which recognizes a law firm managing partner whose courage, unyielding vision, integrity, conviction and authenticity has carved a groundbreaking path and laid a new foundation to accelerate the economic empowerment of attorneys of color and women. Mr. Tanenbaum has repeatedly been selected by his peers for inclusion in the Best Lawyers in America guide in the field of mass tort and class action litigation, most recently for 2014.
